From horse farm to dream pool: how Leisure Pools Northern Kentucky made the impossible look easy
Nestled in the rolling hills of Campbell County, Kentucky, a beautifully crafted custom home sits atop one of the county’s highest points, offering sweeping views of farmland, horses grazing in the fields below and golden sunsets that stretch across the horizon. It’s a setting straight out of a magazine, and now it has a dream pool to match.
The homeowners, a young family who had patiently waited a few years after building their forever home before adding a pool, made their decision the way so many discerning buyers do: they wanted quality they could count on, a company they could trust and a product backed by a warranty that would last as long as the home itself. They chose The Supreme 40 in Silver Grey from Leisure Pools, installed by Chad Fuller and the expert crew at Leisure Pools Northern Kentucky.
A lifetime warranty for a lifetime home
For this family, the decision to invest in a fiberglass pool wasn’t taken lightly. They had just built their dream house on a stunning piece of Alexandria farmland where they raise horses and cut hay. They were thinking long-term.
“When we go to sell a pool and we can offer a lifetime structural and lifetime surface warranty, that is one of the deciding factors,” said Fuller. “These customers just built their dream house. Why would they put something in the ground they don’t know is going to last?”
That confidence in the Leisure Pools product, paired with the reputation of the Northern Kentucky installation team, made the choice straightforward. The 40-foot Supreme model in Silver Grey gave the family the size they wanted for swimming laps and playing with their kids, and the fiberglass construction promised the low-maintenance lifestyle they needed.
The challenges of a Kentucky hillside install
Installing a large fiberglass pool on a working horse farm presented a series of logistical and technical hurdles. The property’s charm, which includes its winding access road, mature trees, horse fencing with narrow gates and elevated hillside position, also made it one of the more complex installations the Leisure Pools Northern Kentucky team has tackled.
Getting The Supreme 40 shell to the site safely required careful navigation of a long, winding road. A 100-ton crane had to cross a concrete driveway to set the pool in place on the hillside, with every move calculated to protect the new home’s infrastructure. And then there was the dig itself.
“It was a very rocky dig,” Fuller explained. “We dug out a lot of rock and ensured the pool dig was safe to place a fiberglass pool, with no rocks within inches of the shell. That’s non-negotiable for us.”
Getting vendors and contractors to a rural location added another layer of coordination. But as Fuller sees it, that’s exactly the kind of challenge his team was built for.
“I kind of like challenges,” he indicated. “We’ve done jobs where other companies said they weren’t possible, and we came in and made them possible. Sometimes you just have to think outside the box.”
What the family wanted and what they got
The homeowners had a clear vision: a large pool the whole family could enjoy, without the burden of constant upkeep. Leisure Pools Northern Kentucky delivered on both fronts.
The Supreme 40 in Silver Grey now sits beautifully on that hillside, equipped with a full suite of high-quality equipment:
- Integra Pool Covers automatic cover for effortless safety and maintenance
- Hayward AquaRite AQR340 salt chlorination system
- Hayward TriStar VS 900 variable speed pump
- Hayward Heat Pro heat pump (140,000 BTU) for year-round comfort
- Hayward 4030 SwimClear multi-element cartridge filter
- Two PAL multi-color LED lights offering over one million color options
- Pre-plumbed water feature line for a future addition
The PAL lighting system deserves a special mention. “The lights we use from PAL have less than a 3% failure rate,” Fuller noted. “When we sell that to a customer, they know they’re getting the best bang for their buck.”
The automatic pool cover from Integra Pool Covers was installed with special brackets to hide the mechanism entirely, blending seamlessly with the travertine coping and stone surrounding the pool. The result is a clean, elegant look that feels intentional rather than functional.
Everything arrived together. “When we order from Leisure Pools, our entire package comes to the job site on our flatbed,” Fuller emphasized. “That’s a big deal for the customer and for our install timeline.”
Phase one complete, with the best still to come
The pool is in. The equipment is running. The family is swimming. And the site is already thoughtfully prepped for what comes next.
Phase two, which will include expanded decking, outdoor living spaces, fire features and additional landscaping, has been carefully planned. The plumbing line for a future water feature is already in the ground. The layout accounts for where the fire pit will go, where the outdoor living area will expand and how it will all connect. Nothing has been left to chance.
“A lot has already been addressed and discussed. It’s site-ready for future advancements,” Fuller emphasized. “The pool itself is spectacular. Everything else is coming.”
When the golden hour hits that Kentucky hillside, with horses in the paddocks below and The Supreme 40 catching the last light of the day, this backyard is already something to see.
From permit to pool and everything in between
Fuller didn’t come to the pool industry by accident. He started cutting his neighbors’ grass at age 12, moved into full-time landscaping at 16 and steadily built expertise in concrete, excavation and complete backyard construction. He recognized early on that a pool is the centerpiece of almost every backyard project and that the families who want one deserve a seamless experience from start to finish.
That philosophy is baked into everything Leisure Pools Northern Kentucky does. The company handles permitting, design consultation, excavation, concrete, travertine, landscaping restoration and ongoing service. Their promise is simple: from permit to pool, they take care of it all.
“A pool can either be a nightmare or it can be the best thing for a family,” Fuller expressed. “You can either bring vacation home, or you can have another job when you get home. We don’t want someone to have another job. We want them to unwind and really have a vacation resort feel in their backyard.”
And if someone thinks their yard can’t accommodate a pool? Fuller has heard that before.
“We’ve actually had people come to us after three or four other companies told them they couldn’t have a pool,” he said. “My goal is to get anybody who wants a pool, a pool. If you want one, we’re going to find a way.”
